The IV International Symposium of Echocardiography and Vascular Ultrasound was held in conjunction with the XV Annual Conference “Cardiology Update” on 29-31 October 2008 in Tyumen, Russia

This meeting was sponsored by the Russian Chapter of the International Society of Cardiovascular Ultrasound (RCISCU) and organized by Tyumen Cardiology Center.
Symposium co-chairmen were Prof. Jos Roelandt (Rotterdam, the Netherlands) Prof. Valeriy Sandrikov (Moscow, Russia) and Prof. Vadim Kuznetsov (Tyumen, Russia).
More than 500 participants from 10 countries, about 50 cities of Russia took part in the meeting. The outstanding specialists: Prof. Joseph Kisslo (USA), Prof. Roxy Senior (UK), Prof. Jaroslaw Kasprzak (Poland) and others as well as the leading Russian specialists Prof. Valeriy Sandrikov (Moscow), Prof. Vadim Kuznetsov (Tyumen), Prof. Elena Pavliukova (Tomsk) and others delivered lectures at the symposium.
This conference remains the major educational and research meeting in cardiology and cardiovascular ultrasound in Tyumen region attracting participants from all parts of Russia and different countries.
New this year was the holding within the conference of two workshops devoted, the first to the role of echocardiography in selecting patients for cardiac resynchronization therapy, and the second to the programming of implantable cardioverter-defibrillators.
The guests and participants of the event mentioned high scientific standards of the conference, active attendance, good organization and warm atmosphere of the meeting. Traditionally, in addition to the scientific program an interesting cultural exchange program was prepared.

On July 28-29, 2005 a Course on Transesophageal Echocardiography by Lee Frazin, MD (Chicago, Illinois, USA) was held in Tyumen Cardiology Center, Tyumen, Russia. This course was conducted under support of RCISCU.
The director of the Course, Dr. Lee Frazin – an outstanding scientist, a leading figure of world echocardiography, inventor of transesophageal echocardiography - a method of imaging internal organs and vascular structures through the gastrointestinal wall. The prominent experts in echocardiography from the famous US clinics – Prof. Robert Siegel (Los Angeles, California, USA) and John Erikson, MD (San Antonio, Texas, USA) also took part in the Course. Several topics were presented by the leading Russian scientists: Alexander Vrublevsky, MD from Tomsk and Nikolay Korneev, MD from Moscow.
The Course was arranged as a mixture of lectures and practical trainings, live case performances and analysis of interesting cases of TEE and discussions. More than 100 participants from 17 regions of Russia took part in the meeting. At the end of the Course all participants were given certificates of attendance.
The materials of the Course are going to be published on CD.

On May 24-26, 2005 the II International Symposium on Echocardiography and Vascular Ultrasound took place in Tyumen, Russia. The Symposium was held within Russian National Clinical-Diagnostic Forum of Cardiology, in conjunction with 6th Russian National Conference on Holter Monitoring and 7th Russian National Conference “New Trends in Electrocardiology”. More than 400 specialists from 50 cities of Russia and more than 10 countries took part in it. The II International Symposium was a part of the events planed for the year 2005, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Tyumen Cardiology Center, which is well known as a unique medical institution where the most advanced scientific inventions in the field of cardiology are being applied in everyday practice.
By the invitation of RC ISCU such well-known scientists as President of European Association of Echocardiography Dr. Alan Fraser (UK), the head of the Ultrasound Department of Investigaciones Medicas Dr. Jorge Lowenstein (Argentina), as well as leading Russian scientists and physicians and cardiologists from more than 10 countries took part in the symposium. Exclusively for this meeting Professor Navin Nanda, MD (USA), the President of International Society of Cardiovascular Ultrasound, recorded a video lecture devoted to 3-D echocardiography.
Such important problems of modern cardiology as subclinical myocardial disease, coronary flow reserve measurements, assessment of biventricular stimulation, heart valve diseases, future trends of new methods, in particular 3-D echocardiography and many others were discussed by the symposium participants. At the same time, posters competition, exhibition of pharmaceutical companies, demonstration of the latest samples of medical equipment from Russian and foreign manufacturers were held.
At the end of the event all the guests pointed out that the symposium was highly successful and educational. And of course more than once an opinion was expressed, that such meetings should be held regularly, since the useful effect of them cannot be overestimated.

On 24 November 2004 the I International Symposium of Echocardiography and Vascular Ultrasound took place in Tyumen Cardiology Center . The Symposium was held within the XI Annual International Conference “Cardiology Update” (25-26 of November). Leading Russian scientists, outstanding foreign specialists such as Professor Fausto J. Pinto (Portugal) - the President of European Association of Echocardiography (EAE), Director of the Lisbon Cardiovascular Institute; Professor Jaroslaw D. Kasprzak (Poland) - a member of Board of EAE, Director of Echo Lab, Medical University of Lodz ; Dr. Lee J. Frazin (USA) - one of the leaders in the world echocardiography; Professor Steven R. Bailey (USA) – Director of Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio delivered lectures at the Conference.
Both Symposium and Conference joined together more than 300 participants from 10 countries. At the Symposium there was held presentation of transesophageal echocardiography cases and workshop on cardiac resynchronization therapy.
These meetings were appreciated by foreign and Russian participants, the representatives of commercial companies, local authorities and mass media for the high scientific and organization level.
After the Symposium the first meeting of The Russian Chapter of the International Society of Cardiovascular Ultrasound (RCISCU) took place, where the Chairman and Board members were elected. Various organizational questions and plans of further work were considered, among them the holding of the II International Symposium on Echocardiography and Vascular Ultrasound on 24-25 of May 2005.
