This year the congress had a record number of attendees about 750 participants from more than 40 cities of Russia and 12 countries (Germany, Greece, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Turkey, United Kingdom, and Uzbekistan). In total, 85 oral and 68 poster presentations were delivered at the congress; 483 abstracts were published in the Congress Abstract Book.
Scientists and clinicians discussed various aspects of cardiology and allied fields, including new approaches to diagnostics and treatment of cardiovascular disease, advances in high-technology treatment, epidemiology and prevention.
The scientific program included plenary sessions, symposia, and workshops. A high level of the scientific content was guaranteed by the participation of distinguished foreign scientists, among them Professor Fausto Pinto, Director of Lisbon Cardiovascular Institute, Vice President of the European Society of Cardiology (Lisbon, Portugal), Dr. Alan Fraser, Reader and Consultant Cardiologist at Wales Heart Research Institute, Past President of the European Association of Echocardiography (Cardiff, United Kingdom) and many others. The symposium of echocardiography and vascular ultrasound which is traditionally held within the congress was a big success. It attracted so many participants that the conference hall just failed to seat all of them. For the first time within the congress there was a symposium on neurology organized in association with the Federal Center for Neurosurgery.
