The congress was jointly organized by Tyumen Cardiology Center and the Russian Chapter of the International Society of Cardiovascular Ultrasound under the auspices of the Business Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
This year the meeting attracted more than 500 attendees from 9 countries and 16 regions of Russia. During three days of scientific sessions 78 oral and 59 poster presentations were delivered. Overall (with abstracts submitted) 14 countries participated in the meeting (Russia, Germany, Italy, Poland, USA, Latvia, Hungary, Turkey, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Azerbaijan).
Well-known foreign specialists: Prof. Jaroslaw D. Kasprzak (Poland), Prof. Vito Maurizio Parato (Italy), Dr. Sabine Brueckner (Germany), Prof. Volodimir Kovalenko (Ukraine) as well as leading scientists from Russia delivered lectures at the congress.
The extensive scientific program offered the participants an excellent opportunity to exchange experience on various aspects of modern cardiology and allied fields and discuss new methods for diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. There were sessions on arterial hypertension, coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, cardiovascular hemodynamics, cardiovascular epidemiology and prevention, high-technology cardiac procedures and others. Within the congress Emergency Cardiology Workshop by the Russian Society of Cardiology was held.
A distinguishing feature of the 2012 congress was the discussion of advances and challenges of modern cardiology in different countries. There were very interesting lectures and discussion at Polish-German-Russian Symposium on Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy as well as International Symposium of Echocardiography and Vascular Ultrasound. Cardiologists from Russia, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan met at the symposium “Cardiology in the Countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization”. For the first time the young scientists session was organized with participation of members of the EAE Club 35.
At the end of the forum Presidents of the congress Prof. Jaroslaw D. Kasprzak and Prof. Vadim A. Kuznetsov thanked all the participants and mentioned that the quality of oral and poster presentations corresponded to high international standards.
As ever a cultural exchange program was prepared for the participants of the congress. An interesting city tour around Tyumen and an amazing trip to the ostrich farm in the Yuzhnoe village were arranged. The guests also visited Yalutorovsk wooden stockade town, the new historical and recreational object in the Tyumen region.
On the whole, the congress was fruitful and successful, and we hope that all the participants got new knowledge, new contacts, and new friends.
